Ripple Vase

Feeling inspired by the ripples created by waves and drops falling on water I sculpted this handbuilt curvy vase with a narrow tall neck and small foot. A dramatic form that feels ancient and classic with a textured surface design where every ridge was meticulously hand-carved to mimic organic movement. I spent a great deal of time experimenting with glazes to ensure the piece received its ideal finish. After extensive testing with layered glazes to achieve a specific atmospheric effect, I discovered a combination that perfectly mirrors the shifting hues and the luminous reflections of moving water collaborating perfectly with the carved ripples.
